Grub's Up!
Just like many other fishermen, I sailed for various companies during my time at sea but the medal for the worst grub - or lack of it should I say - goes to H L Taylor's. Their provisions, to put it mildly, were lacking a little and I wondered sometimes if we were rationed to four potatoes a man or something!
In spite of that, they were a quite decent firm - expanding their fleet at a time when everyone else was flogging and scrapping theirs - and I spent an enjoyable time in the Yesso with Skipper Pete Brown ( the 'Black Prince') who taught me a lot about chartwork and navigation.
